Definitely, it might be hard to find a stronger indictment up against marrying outside of the covenant and you will a stronger plea in order to get married during the the latest covenant. Its hearts was turned from the God regarding Abraham, the fresh new Jesus off Isaac, plus the Goodness out of Jacob. It is no question the prophets mourned therefore drastically and you can destined so strongly matrimony out from the covenant because they attempted to keep Israel connected to its covenant with God.

He continued to state that “the fresh new Savior [whose birth and you can mortal existence however adopted Elijah] had expert and you can power to bestow that it blessing” however, failed to just like the house from Israel was not worthwhile otherwise happy to discovered they

Zero conversation out of ent will be done as opposed to a dialogue from new securing efforts. The final two passages on Old testament pledge: “View, I am able to deliver Elijah the prophet through to the upcoming from the nice and you may terrible day’s the father: In which he should change one’s heart of one’s fathers with the pupils, and the center of your youngsters on the fathers, lest I come and you may smite our planet with good curse” (Malachi 4:5–6). It assured repairs was of such great pros whenever they were not satisfied, the whole world was smitten having a good curse, or utterly lost, because reads from inside the Joseph Smith-Record step one:39 and Philosophy and you will Covenants 2:3. Off second-date revelation, we all know one to Elijah was to feel provided for fix the fresh new securing powers, the advantage to help you join into the eden what’s sure on earth. Regardless if which repairs integrated the advantage and you will power so you can “seal and you https://gorgeousbrides.net/fi/filippiinilaiset/ will validate all ordinances of your priesthood to ensure ordinances performed on the planet are joining from inside the paradise too,” it’s a good idea recognized for promoting the right to bind and you will seal group to possess eternity. In fact, within the mention of Malachi 4:5–6, brand new Prophet Joseph Smith reported that the term change is to in fact getting made because the “bind” otherwise “seal.”

Malachi will not create basic the connection within Old-testament prophet Elijah plus the securing energies. I acquire particular opinion out of a statement by Joseph Smith one to “Elijah are the last Prophet one to kept the fresh new secrets of priesthood.” We may question if your prophets exactly who used Elijah might have held these types of techniques, also “such as for instance men as Elisha, Joel, Hosea, Jonah, Amos, Isaiah, Micah, Nahum, Jeremiah, Zephaniah, Obadiah, Daniel, Habakkuk, Ezekiel.” Although not, regarding remainder of Joseph Smith’s modern report, it’s clear the guy don’t suggest zero child just after Elijah stored that energy on the planet. Hence, Elijah wasn’t the very last prophet to hold these tips but appears to be the last exactly who worked out her or him into the olden days and you can is the one the lord appointed to help you bestow the individuals secrets to the anyone else. Robert L. Millet informed me: “The newest keys of your empire out of Jesus in the morning towards world in the event that large priesthood is on earth; there needs to be acquisition in the house away from Goodness. The individuals points might have been kept by Lord’s anointed once the full time away from Elijah. Elijah wasn’t the very last kid to hold tactics in the Old-testament period, as most did just after your, however, he had been the past one out of the existing Testament accredited to return about dispensation of your fulness of the time so you’re able to ensure you to ‘all ordinances may be attended to inside righteousness.’”

I have subsequent witness of your importance of Elijah’s purpose because the it is one of the few prophesied events stated in most of one’s important really works

We do have the pleasure of the prophecy registered for the Matthew 17 and you may ent-the latest levels out of Moses and Elijah bestowing their priesthood tactics towards the Peter, James, and you can John. That is actually nevertheless earliest the main pleasure is found from the Goodness Christ’s recurring the brand new prophecy out-of Malachi to the Nephites in the future stressful in 3 Nephi 25. This, however, happens after Moses and you may Elijah got currently bestowed their important factors towards Peter, James, and you can John inside the New-testament moments. More a 100 years . 5 afterwards, Moroni repeated brand new vow so you’re able to Joseph Smith just like the filed on the Pearl of good Rates (get a hold of Joseph Smith-Record 1:38–39). Joseph Smith next educated various other satisfaction of the sacred guarantee when Elijah looked and you can bestowed new closing vitality with the Prophet and you will Oliver Cowdery due to the fact filed inside Philosophy and you can Covenants 110. It has also been ideal there get yet , be several other fulfillment of your prophecy according to the words out of Joseph Smith given for the 1840, number of years once Elijah’s coming submitted within the Doctrine and you may Covenants 110. Robert L. Millet stated that area of the brand new prophecy can still end up being fulfilled in a few future big date: “Joseph Smith reported that Elijah ‘usually, before the last dispensation‘-definition, allegedly, during the some coming date before the dispensation is finished-‘heal brand new expert and you will provide the keys of your own Priesthood, so as that the ordinances can be taken care of in righteousness.’”
